I Can Learn the Bible - This is a Keeper!

52 scriptures Every kid should know by Holly Hawkins Shivers
This is an adorable book that I will keep and use every year! I love how you have a verse a week to teach and learn with your child. They are key verses we should all know. I am looking forward to learning scripture with my children. My 5 year old is loving the book and excited about the next step. I think it will be awesome for us to use and I look forward to my younger child to learn scripture as she learns to talk. This is a great idea to have for every family. The verse is on a page by itself with cute pictures around it. Then you are given 2 to 3 pages of areas to talk about the verse and how to apply it to life. So this gives you multiple ways to go over this verse during the week as you look at the scripture every night. It is a good sized hardback book that should last for years to come. It isn’t huge, but maybe a little bigger than a 5x7. This would be a great gift for any family to help lead them to teaching God’s word to their children and a good quiet time for the night to focus on God before bed! It Will Be Okay by Lysa TerKeurst

Such a touching story!

This is a cute story about a seed that is happy being in his safe zone in his shed. Then one day a fox decides to come in his safe spot and move him. They become friends. The entire time the farmer watches over them. They know he is there, even t
hough he doesn’t communicate with them. Then one day the farmer takes the seed and they have to learn that change is coming and they have to put their trust in the farmer because he knows what is best for them. The fox doesn’t leave his friend the seed, even as the seed is placed into the ground to grow. One day after the seed has become a tree, they both find out that the farmer knew what was best for them. How often in life do we enjoy being in our safe zone and don’t welcome change easy!? I am one of those people for sure! We know God is always there watching out for the best for us. Then the time comes and he picks us up out of our safe comfortable place and says you must now GROW here! At first we are scared and unsure of our future, we can only trust that God knows what is best for us and sees the big picture when we don’t! I LOVE how this book teaches our children this! This is a book that I hope to give as gifts to others and to continually expose my children too. It has cute pictures and is a good size hardback book with a cover. Lysa did a great job relaying such a great lesson to our children! Once-A-Day Nurturing Great Kids Devotional

I love it.
It is a thicker paperback book that has a 1 page devotion for each day. It is given by date: December 1st – Day 334. I like the reminder of which day that I am on for the year. It sort of serves for a reminder of how many days we have been blessed with once again for another year. It starts out with a verse, then a small devotion on how to apply that verse to our parenting style. Next it gives a “Parenting Principle” which is a sentence summary of above. Lastly, “Points to Ponder” which are 3 questions to challenge you. It is a great way to take a few minutes of your day to focus on something you can change or something you can implement in your home. This is a great book for every parent. I would greatly recommend if you are looking for a book to give parents, this would be it. Life gets busy, but if you could just pick this up, it would challenge you. First Christmas Ever - Children's book

The First Christmas Ever is a children's book illustrated by Dennis Jones. The pictures are so cute! This is a small paperback book that the cover will get bent easily. It is a fun book for a child to look at the pictures and learn the story of Mary & Joseph traveling to Bethlehem for the First Christmas Ever. At the end of the book, there is a great timeline of Jesus’ life. For a parent, this is a wordy book. You will have a lot of words to read. I was hoping for an easy read, but I love how the story unfolds for the child and teaches them. My children have really enjoyed this book, so yes I would recommend it to a friend. I see where it isn’t an expensive book so it would be a nice add-on gift to put with another present.

Dig Deeper! Words from a 5 year old!

Last night my 5 year old brings me a book on different kinds of trucks. It is a basic toddler book without alot of words. He said, "Tonight we are going to DIG DEEPER and read more than just the words! You are supposed to think about the words, look at the pictures, and dig deeper into the book." He has no idea what his words really mean. YES we are suppose to dig deeper into life and God's Word! I told him that he was very smart. We are supposed to do that to God's word. When we read the Bible, we are to Dig Deeper into what we are reading and find out what those words mean to us and how we live. I love how he opened up that conversation with just he words - DIG DEEPER!

So today try to Dig Deeper into life and into what God has planned for us! Grab God's Words and try to DIG DEEPER!

Our biggest enemy is sometime ourselves…

The enemy sometimes just uses our weakness to get us. Just like on the ninja turtle cartoon on the other day, each turtle was fighting their worst fear when in actuality there wasn’t anything there. How many times in life are we our worst enemy? I think it is when we let ourselves become super stressed is when the enemy says “let’s get her! Let’s use her weaknesses against her!” How many times do we let the devil throw issues at us in our mind that really aren’t there! We let him mentally tear us down. We let doubt creep in over issues that really aren’t there for us to fight.
There are times I feel people are just against me and my flesh wants me to stop and complain against them. I caught myself wanting to do that last week. Then I thought, let’s keep my words and thoughts positive and keep doing what I know that I need to do. In the end, I don’t think they were against me but just a test that I had to endure. Sometimes these are the hardest things is when we are up against people that are maybe not the friendliest, but we have to show them our Christ like attitude. Or should I say we need to.
There are times the enemy will sit there, if we let him, and put things in our mind that will bring us down… let us feel like we are all alone, when actually God is always there for us. Take one Wednesday night I was very upset and wanted to be by myself, so I walk in, sit in the back, and I notice not one person spoke to me the entire night – except my sweet niece. Take it that I wanted to be by myself, but then the enemy says – you see no one even spoke to you! Why did you even go? They wouldn’t had missed you. I have to step back and see what is happening or I could sit and let myself get depressed.
How often does God let us become to tested so he can see if we have learned our lesson? How often do we let ourselves be tested and actually see and learn from it? How often do we see we fail and try to be on guard for the next test? Let’s try to realize our battles and only fight the ones that are meant for us to fight and not let Satan put extra battles in our way that we don’t even have to fight! Let’s have faith and don’t doubt!

A Star for Jesus board book

By Crystal Bowman This is a cute thin board book with the edge of the book cut out around most of the star. It will introduce your children to the star of Jesus, and how that star shines brighter than the others, how it led the wisemen to Jesus, and how they can remember Jesus when they see a star. The words are simple and cute. The pictures are well illustrated. The only questionable page is the wisemen bringing gifts to Jesus, but he isn’t a baby Jesus. It is a toddler boy outside playing. This one picture through the book off for me, because we are taught that the Wise Men brought gifts to the baby child. I think because of the picture, I wouldn’t race out to buy it for a gift for other children. I wouldn’t want to confuse them. My children enjoyed the book and wanted me to read it again.
